This past weekend, during the International Women’s Day celebration, I had the honor of sharing a message on El Roi—the God Who Sees Us. It was a beautiful reminder that no matter how invisible, unheard, or forgotten we may feel, God sees us. He knows our struggles, our silent prayers, and our hidden battles.
In Genesis 16, we meet Hagar, a woman caught in a difficult and painful situation. She was mistreated, abandoned, and left to navigate the wilderness alone. But it was in that place—where she felt unseen and unwanted—that God revealed Himself to her in a powerful way.
When the angel of the Lord found Hagar by a spring of water in the wilderness, he called her by name—something no one else had done in her story. He didn’t see her as just a servant or an outcast, but as a person with value and purpose. At that moment, Hagar gave God a name that had never been spoken before:
El Roi—The God Who Sees Me.
Hagar’s story is not just about her—it’s about you and me. How often do we feel overlooked, unseen, or insignificant? We may be battling rejection, struggling with our self-worth, or carrying burdens that no one else seems to notice.
But the truth is, God sees you.
- He sees your silent prayers when words fail you.
- He sees your tears when no one else does.
- He sees the weight you carry, the battles you fight, and the hope that flickers in your heart.
El Roi is not a distant observer—He is an intimate, present, and loving God.
And so to,
- The woman who feels unseen and unheard
- The woman who is struggling with shame and rejection
- The woman who is searching for purpose and clarity
- The woman who feels stuck in a wilderness season
Like Hagar, you may be asking, “Does God really see me?”
The answer is yes. He sees you, He knows your heart, and He has a plan for you. Your story is still being written, and it’s not over until God says it’s done.
You are not overlooked. You are deeply known.

Final Encouragement: Hold onto Hope
Wherever you are today, hold onto hope. The same God who met Hagar in her wilderness is the same God who meets you in yours. He is working behind the scenes, orchestrating every detail, and guiding you toward His perfect plan.
Will you trust Him? Will you let Him rewrite your story?
El Roi sees you. And He is not finished with you yet.
