The Law of Self-Preservation: Choosing You Without Shame.

How did we get to June 23rd?

This month has flown by — honestly, it hasn’t been easy.
Every day seems to carry a new weight.
There’s a heaviness in the air that’s hard to ignore. Sometimes I wake up and ask myself, “Where do we even go from here?” And some mornings, the discouragement creeps in before my feet even hit the floor.

This past week has been especially heavy.

In my home country of Kenya, the pain has been visceral —
Images and videos of police brutality.
Young lives lost. Businesses shuttering.
Families are crying out for justice and relief.
People are angry, grieving, afraid… and exhausted.

Here in the U.S., the chaos feels different but just as intense.
Politics are divisive. The cost of living is overwhelming.
A constant stream of bad news, political tension, and financial pressure.

The noise is relentless. The peace feels far.

And in the middle of all this, you’re trying to hold it all together.
Trying to work, show up for your family, pursue your healing, and just survive another day without breaking down.

Sis… I see you. I feel it too. And I want you to know: You are not alone.

We’re in this together. And we will get through.

As we near the end of this month — a month where we’ve been reclaiming our boundaries, our voice, and our sovereignty —Let me introduce you to something sacred:

The Law of Self-Preservation — your inner compass that reminds you:
“Choosing yourself is not selfish. It’s survival. It’s sacred. It’s necessary.”

💭 What Is the Law of Self-Preservation?

It is the decision to protect what is holy within you: your mind, your spirit, your energy — even when the world demands more than you can give.

It’s the moment you say:
“I may not be able to fix the world today, but I can protect my peace within it.”

It doesn’t mean you’re ignoring what’s happening. It doesn’t mean you’re numb or checked out.
It means you are grounding before responding, Listening inward before reacting,
Tending to your soul before answering the demands of the world.

🌿 Here’s how you begin to self-preserve in a world that never stops spinning:

  • Turn down the noise.
Not everything needs your response. Not every headline needs your outrage.
Protect your energy like it’s gold — because it is.
  • Be mindful of what you consume.
The news. The endless scroll. The heated debates.
You have permission to step away. Guard what you watch. Guard what you listen to.
  • Shut the world out — just for a moment.
Pause the chaos. Close your eyes. Take a breath.
Listen — not to the news, not to the fear — but to the inner you.
And to the Divine Voice that gently reminds you:
“You are safe. You are held. You are not alone.”
  • Say no without guilt.
Every request is not your assignment. You don’t need a reason to protect your space.
Your “no” can be full of grace and still firm.
  • Take breaks without apology.
You don’t need to earn rest. You’re allowed to sit in stillness. To do nothing. To breathe and be.
  • Choose where your energy goes.
Ask yourself: Is this worth my peace? If not, let it go.

Friend, in a world that demands urgency — Let stillness be your rebellion.

In a world that glorifies over-giving — Let boundaries be your medicine.

In a world that pressures you to be everything to everyone — Let your own healing be your priority.

You are not required to carry it all. You are not weak for needing space. You are not selfish for choosing yourself. You are choosing peace over pressure. Rest over resentment. Presence over performance.

So, wherever this message finds you — overwhelmed, heartbroken, tired, or simply unsure — let this be your permission slip:

To pause. To protect your peace. To preserve your soul.
To listen inward, not outward. To honor the Divine voice inside of you — above the noise of the world.

This is the Law of Self-Preservation.
And in this season? It’s not optional. It’s necessary.

You’re allowed to reclaim your sanity — without shame. And you are never doing it alone.

We’re in this together, sis. One sacred “no,” one quiet breath, one brave moment at a time.

With you in the quiet,
Lydia 🤎
