FEAR: Refuse to Buy It —You Just Don’t Have the Money for It!

Of late, in the current times, fear seems to be on sale everywhere.

It’s in the news, trying to convince you the world is falling apart.
Well, maybe the world is falling apart… but that doesn’t mean your life has to.

It’s in that little voice in your head, making you question if you’re enough.
It’s in the well-meaning advice from family and friends:
“Are you sure you want to do that? What if it doesn’t work out?”

Fear is everywhere, constantly being marketed to you. But here’s the truth—you don’t have to buy into it. You just don’t have the money for it.

Fear is one of the most overpriced things you could ever purchase. It costs you your peace, your joy, your confidence, and your ability to move forward.

It keeps you up at night, makes you second-guess yourself, and convinces you to settle for less than what God has for you. And for what? A false sense of control? A guarantee that things won’t go wrong?

The problem is, fear is a terrible investment—it only gives back stress and regret.

But before you buy into fear, remember:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

If fear isn’t from Him, why are you holding onto it? Why spend your time and energy on something He never intended for you?

You can’t always control what’s happening around you, but you can control what you choose to invest in. When fear is being sold at every turn, you have to be intentional about what you allow into your mind and heart.

Here’s what you can do when fear is all around you:

🙏 Anchor Yourself in Truth – Fear thrives in uncertainty, but God’s word is a solid foundation. Instead of feeding your fear with worst-case scenarios, feed your spirit with scriptures that remind you who you are and whose you are. “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)—say it, declare it, live it.

🛑 Filter What You Consume – The news, social media, and even conversations can be filled with fear-driven narratives. Be mindful of what you’re taking in. If something is feeding your anxiety more than your faith, take a step back. Choose to surround yourself with uplifting, empowering messages instead.

🗣 Challenge Fear-Based Thoughts – When fear tries to creep in, ask yourself: Is this thought even true? Or is it just fear speaking? Most fears are just exaggerated what ifs that never come true. Replace them with what ifs that build your faith instead:

  • What if this works out better than I imagined?
  • What if I am stronger than I think?
  • What if God is already making a way for me?

💪 Take Small Steps Anyway – Fear wants you to freeze, but faith invites you to move. You don’t have to have everything figured out—just take one step. Then another. Progress is made in movement, not in overthinking.

❤️ Lean Into Community – Fear isolates, but faith is strengthened in connection. Surround yourself with people who remind you of your power, your resilience, and God’s promises. Sometimes, a conversation with the right person can shift your entire perspective.

🌿 Surrender What You Can’t Control – Let’s be honest, some fears are rooted in things we have zero control over. Instead of carrying burdens that aren’t yours to hold, give them to God. If you can’t change it, pray about it. If you can take action, do it with courage. But don’t let fear sit rent-free in your mind.

When You Stop Investing in Fear, You Start Investing in Faith.

💡 Instead of fearing failure, you see setbacks as setups for something greater.
💡 Instead of fearing rejection, you realize you don’t need validation from everyone.
💡 Instead of fearing change, you embrace it, knowing that God is already there, making a way.

Fear keeps you small. Faith expands you.

Now, don’t get it twisted—fear and wisdom are not the same.

Wisdom says, “Let’s prepare and move forward.”
🚫 Fear says, “Let’s panic and do nothing.”

Wisdom says, “That doesn’t align with my values, so I’ll pass.”
🚫 Fear says, “I’m not worthy, so I won’t even try.”

So next time you feel hesitation, ask yourself:

  • Am I holding back because of wisdom, or because I’m scared?
  • Am I pausing because I need clarity, or because I’m doubting myself?

Fear will always pretend to be logic, but deep down, you’ll know the truth.

From now on, picture fear as an overpriced item. Every time you buy into it, you’re paying with your peace, your joy, and your future.

So when fear knocks, just tell it:

“Sorry, I just don’t have the budget for you anymore.”

God has called you to power, love, and a sound mind—not fear, anxiety, and doubt. So stop paying for what you don’t need.

You’re not broke, but your fear budget is officially empty. And that’s a good thing.

Are you ready to stop buying what you can’t afford?

So today, choose faith. Choose trust. Choose to believe that God is already ahead of you, working things out for your good even when the whole world seems to be falling apart!

Have a fearless week!
